Explorers

Griffin Explorers (14-18) and Network Scouts (18-25)

We also love getting out and about for activities such as night and day hikes, bouldering, kayaking, and occasionally more fun events such as bowling. There may be opportunities to attend activity camps and longer camps. Each term we offer the members the opportunity to plan what they want to do over the coming weeks and support them where we can. This is always hugely successful as not only do the Explorers get to do what they want (within reason of course) but in a way that teaches them leadership and planning.

Young Leaders and Awards

Explorers also have the chance to volunteer as Young Leaders with one of our younger sections (Beavers, Cubs, or Scouts). This can count towards the Volunteering section of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, as well as help develop leadership, planning, and communication skills — things that look great on a CV or university application!

We also welcome a limited number of young people who are not Scouts but who wish to complete the Service element of their Duke of Edinburgh Awards.

Moving On to Network and Leadership

The Network section (18–25) is managed by our Scout District, Thameside Grand Union (TGU|). We encourage our Explorers to register with them but also to stay connected by volunteering as an adult with the Group, either as a Helper or a Leader. Becoming an adult team member is a rewarding way to give back to Scouting, continue the adventure, and gain experience that stands out in any career path.

Interested in joining the fun?

We are not always able to offer an immediate place for your child, but we are happy to add their name to our waiting list and will get in touch if a suitable vacancy becomes available.

About Us

We are 20th Chiswick Scouts! Everyone is welcome here; it’s a place to belong. We play games, we cook, we camp and we make things. Each week in term time, we learn something new – and we’re here to have fun!

It feels like adventure not school!

We’re based in Chiswick, where we have our own Scout H.Q. and garden called The Ranch and we’re right behind Chiswick House and Gardens, whose grounds we can use for outdoor activities.
