The Cub Scout Promise
“I promise that
I will do my best
To do my duty to
God and to the King,
To help other people
And to keep
the Cub Scout Law.”
Once your child turns 8, they will automatically move up to Cubs at the next beginning of term or half term.
If they have come from Beavers, they can wear their Beavers uniform for the first couple of weeks until they are invested, or if they are sure they will be staying, you are welcome to buy the cubs uniform, and they will be able to wear their scarf and woggle when they are invested.
For ex-Beavers, Cubs will be familiar. There is a slightly different start to the meeting, but the meeting itself follows a similar pattern of games and activities each week.
One of the main differences is Cubs usually run a camp each year. This takes place over a weekend starting on a Friday night and finishing on a Sunday morning. This is an opportunity for them to cook for themselves, do lots of outdoor activities provided at the Scout camp location, and sleep out in tents that they will have erected. Camp fires, singing songs and sitting under the night sky is all part of the fun.
The activities will become a little more challenging, reflecting their age, but just as fun.

Investing Cubs
After a couple of trial meetings, new joiners to Cubs will be invested into the Cub Pack assuming they want to join. At the end of the appropriate meeting, the Leader will Invest the new Cubs. There is a short ceremonial procedure. Parents are welcome to come and see this and take photos for their own use. Will will let you know in advance when Investitures are going to happen.
Interested in joining the fun?
We are not always able to offer an immediate place for your child, but we are happy to add their name to our waiting list and will get in touch if a suitable vacancy becomes available.
