The Scout Promise
“On my honour,
I promise that
I will do my best,
To do my duty
to God and to the King,
To help other people,
And to keep the Scout law.”
Once your child turns 101/2/11, they will automatically move up to Scouts at the next beginning of term or half term.
If they have come up from Cubs, they can wear their Cubs uniform for the first couple of weeks until they are invested, or if they are sure they will be staying, you are welcome to buy the Scouts uniform, and they will be able to wear their scarf and woggle when they are invested.
For ex-Cubs, Scouts will be familiar. There is a different start and end to the meeting, but the meeting itself follows a similar pattern of games and activities each week.
Like Cubs, Scouts usually run a Scout camp each year. This takes place over a weekend starting on a Friday night and finishing on a Sunday morning. This is an opportunity for them to cook for themselves, do lots of outdoor activities provided at the Scout camp location, and sleep out in tents that they will have erected. Camp fires, singing songs and sitting under the night sky is all part of the fun.
The activities will become a little more challenging, reflecting their age, but just as fun.

Investing Beavers
After a couple of trial meetings, new joiners to Scouts will be invested into the Scout Troop assuming they want to join. At the end of the appropriate meeting, the Leader will invest the new Scouts. There is a short ceremonial procedure.
Interested in joining the fun?
We are not always able to offer an immediate place for your child, but we are happy to add their name to our waiting list and will get in touch if a suitable vacancy becomes available.
